"I have Always wanted to be a reverened sister" - BBA`s Beverly Osu Reveals!!

Beverly Osu who represented Nigeria in the just concluded Big Brother Africa 2013, has became one of the most talked-about housemate has now revealed that being controversial has never been her goal.

In a recent interview in Abuja, she talks about life before the house and what her future plans her.

Life before Big Brother
Before Big Brother, I was into entertainment. Big Brother Africa was just a platform for me to do what I wanted to do. Before now, I wanted to be an actress, I wanted to be a reverend sister, but things did not just work out the way I planned it.

Being a controversial housemate
Going to the house, I didn't have any plan or strategy. I just went in there. While in the house, I used to be blunt every time, it used to be me living my normal life. The controversial side, I don't know because I used to be a very sweet person.

On how she was never up for eviction
I didn't do anything. I know that people picked my name but I wasn't bothered because I also got to pick one or two people. I knew when Natasha or anybody else picked me for eviction but I understood it was just a game. However, I was generally liked in the house because I'm a people's person.

On her relationship with Angelo
Me and Angelo were so business minded people, we think alike, we  do a lot of things together. We have projects we are working on together so, it was much like we went to BBA as individuals but we didn't come there to mark time. And now, we have a platform we have to use. Now, he is in his country but when there is something to do, we  will go together. It is not that we won't have our time but it's more of the business because we all came for something in our lives and since we have gotten  the opportunity, we should use it right.

Her future plans
School, my career-acting, so many things in next year let me feel I'm not sure what to say next because my voice is Ok

Mister May D Buys N150m 6 Bedrooms Duplex in Magodo

There seems to be every reason for this promising Nigerian musician to actually be high as things are falling into place for him in quick succession, MayokunAwodunmila popularly known as May D who recently returned from his trip to United States of America, just released the
video of his hit song "Get Down" last week and the video is gradually taking over the airwaves.

The Ekiti State born music sensation also recently, moved into his new 6-bedroom duplex in Magodo Phase II GRA. The Ile Ijo master as scaled through so many huddles which ordinarily would have taken his musical exploit to premature end but rather he seems to have re-strategized
has now released his third video under his Confam Entertainment label with his two previous videos; "So Many Tinz" and "Gat Me High" recorded huge success.

May D who can at the moment boast of almost seven singles that enjoyed massive playing time across the country had in February 2013, released 'So Many Tinz', which is officially last single he dropped before the release of his album, which took place in Abuja, the federal capital territory where has for sometimes now become the second home of the music star.

The artiste who hit the limelight when he released his hit single "Ile-Ijo" has also achieved personal success with other tracks like; "Gat Me High", "So Many Tinz" amongst others and he has featured in songs of other Nigerian and international artistes like; Akon, Iyanya, Davido, South African singing duoMafikizolo and many more.

Though he was known as a dancer in his early days but he was able to gather popularity doing music and the recent release of "Get Down" video is at the moment gathering cloud which invariably means the song is gradually becoming a success against the belief that the talented singer will find making hits difficult, Indeed he is a sure boy. …

"Obasanjo’s ‘insult’ made me a superstar" –Eedris Abdulkareem Reveals

Controversies and scandals aside, Afro Hip Hop artiste, Eedris Abdulkareem, is happy that he chose the path of music
Anytime his name is mentioned in a gathering, many incidents readily come to mind. For some people it is his scuffle with American rapper, 50 Cents, during his visit to Nigeria, in 2004. Others may choose to remember his numerous swipes at colleagues in his songs.
However, beyond the many controversies that have dogged his career over the years, Eedris Abdulkareem, was once a professional table tennis player and journalist.
At age 15, I represented Kano State as a table tennis player. I was also part of the Nigerian Table Tennis contingent to the All Africa Games in 1985, which took place in Kenya, with the likes of Funke Oshinaike, Atunda Musa and the late Yomi Bankole."
The Bayero University, Mass Communication graduate says, "God told me emphatically that my calling was music because he wants me to use it to speak for the voiceless.
He said, 'Eedris, leave Kano, you are going to go to Lagos to do music, you would go through a lot but you will make it nonetheless. As soon as you have the opportunity to speak on the microphone, use it to talk about the ills in the society like sexual harassment, politics, embezzlement and illiteracy. Also, I was interested in music because my mother raised 10 children and lost seven of them. It made me a very conscious boy at a tender age because of that."
"I would have made more money from music if I sing praises. But if you are a public officer who is accountable, I will definitely praise you. With music, I have met all my needs and gained international recognition. I have the authority to walk up to any governor's door and get instant recognition. They will say, "Ah, Eedris Abdulkareem, Obasanjo's friend, Jaga jaga". It has opened many doors for me and I don't have to sell my soul to the devil or become a member of illuminati to be successful," he says amid laughter.
When asked to comment on the high point of his career, his face lights up in a smile
"The best to ever happen to me was former President Olusegun Obasanjo talking back at me, calling me a mere street boy whose father is not known. The president took me to the next level, I became a super star, and now people know me, because Obasanjo put me in his level."
As if these achievements are not enough, the rapper, who has been running an independent label, La Kreem Records, since 2004, is happy because he has succeeded in keeping the home front intact in spite of controversies.
"I love my family and wife so much that I don't joke with them. I have been married for 13 years, though they thought it would last three months. I proved to them that it is possible to be a family man and artiste at the same time. I am an inspiration to other married celebrities," he boasts.
Things can only get better, as far as Eedris is concerned. With a sixth album due in November, the Osun State native, who says he has a few friends in the industry, tries to clear a few issues off his chest.
"I don't need endorsements, but I am cool with the shows that Mike Adenuga has been giving me. Shows are enough for me. I will endorse my own product which I am putting together. I need more shows because they pay my bills. If I tell you I want endorsements you may think that most of the things I sing about are for endorsement. I don't want it, but I do it for other Nigerian artistes so they can live big. But if you must endorse, choose people that will add value to your life.
Endorsement is the best thing that has ever happened to Nigeria. My only grouse is that abroad, endorsed artistes add value to other people's lives. Here in Nigeria, it is the opposite," he says.

Man Buries His £310,000 Bentley So He Can Use It In The Afterlife, Inspired By Egypt’s Pharaohs

He has all the riches he could ever dream for in this life. But to avoid any risk of missing out in the afterlife, wealthy entrepreneur 'Count Scarpa' is burying his greatest treasure – his new £310,000 Bentley convertible.
In a bizarre announcement on his Facebook page the 62-year-old declared that he plans to do as the Pharaohs of Egypt did and take his riches with him when he dies by burying them.
So tomorrow, he will entomb his brand new Bentley Continental worth over £310,000 to make sure he has a comfortable journey into the 'other side'. The funeral ceremony, he promises, will be at 11am.

His Bentley is his prized possession, so he's burying it, inspired by the Egyptian Pharaohs, in the hope of having it in his afterlife
In a photo on his social network site Count Scarpa stands beside his black Flying Spur, the latest model on the market, with a cockatoo on his arm and writes: 'I decided to do as the Pharaohs: this week I will bury my favourite car, the Bentley here in the home garden! Bury my treasure in my palace rssss !!!'
He says he's digging the grave in the back garden of his mansion in Jardins, one of the wealthiest neighbourhoods in Sao Paulo.
On Tuesday, in another photo, sporting a pink tie, with his foot on a shovel, he stands in front of a deep hole with his shining Bentley parked behind him and warns: 'For those who doubt me, yesterday I already started making the hole in the garden to bury my Bentley! By the end of the week I will bury it'

The self-made businessman, who has a degree in economics and is a black belt instructor and owner of the Institute Maruyama Aikido, a Japanese martial arts academy, explains that his decision to start storing up his treasures for the life beyond came after watching a programme on Ancient Egypt on Sunday.

'I was watching a documentary about the pharaohs of Egypt, very interesting. They buried his entire fortune to have a comfortable life "the other side"!' he says.

Scarpa has had a brush with death a few times, having been in a coma with a superbug, so he's hyper-alert to preparing for what comes after life
Others are sarcastic: 'This is nothing new. Chiquinho may be burying his car but the Brazilian government has buried the Brazilian people,' says one referring to corruption and the wealth of the nation being 'buried' in the pockets of bent politicians.
Scarpa says he is not one of these corrupt individuals and has paid all his taxes, never been in debt or been bankrupt.
'Alex' on the other hand agrees with the crazy decision and tweets: 'I think you should do what you want to do, because it shows that you cannot take anything with you from this life and you might as well enjoy the idea of doing so. However, if you would like to help me with the social project I'm running, I would be very grateful.'

Scarpa is not new to the idea of facing death. In 2009 he was in a coma for over two months after a superbug nearly killed him following a stomach reduction operation. He 'died' twice during the ordeal and was given the last rites on both occasions by a priest.

In an interview with celebrity magazine, Caras, in January this year he said: 'When I had the surgery, I got a very strong bacteria that killed several people.

Father Sues ASUU Over Strike

There seems to be no end to the
Academic Staff Union of University
(ASUU) strike. Politicians, students and
lecturers all seek for a reasonable
solution to this difficult situation, but to
no avail. Some young people who are
affected by the strike support it, some
have expressed their disapproval.
Nigeria's leader Goodluck Jonathan has
personally ordered to find a way out of
this educational-political-economic
drama.
Looks like the time has come for the older generation to speak up on the
matter. His patience snapped, and he sued the ASUU, as well as eight others.
Mallam Dankano Garba Ahmed, a 71-year-old pensioner from Kano State, in a suit submitted to the National Industrial Court of Nigeria laments that the ongoing strike is negatively affecting his daughter's education.

The elderly man accuses the union of
frustrating his efforts to get his daughter,Zainab Garba Ahmed, a 400 level Civil Engineering student at the Bayero University Kano, out of school within the determined time.

He says that the strike irritates him, as he earns "less than N30,000 as pension," and, furthermore, has other children he would wish to support financially; this, he states, depends on whether his daughter graduates successfully.
He adds that the strike is making his
daughter, who is the second plaintiff, idle, disorganised and psychologically disturbed.

"Her future and that of thousand others
across the country are being stagnated
strategically by the ongoing strike," he
decries.
The court is asked to determine if the 21
October 2009 agreement, concluded
between ASUU and the Federal
Government, is valid, binding, and not
illegal.
If found otherwise, the pensioner asks the court to define whether ASUU has a right to commence strike for failure or refusal of the Federal Government to implement the said agreement.

He seeks perpetual injunction restraining
ASUU from continuing with the strike or
taking any action whatsoever and by
whatever means to enforce the said
agreement or compel the Federal
Government to implement it.

The case comes up today, September 18,
2013, at the Kano division of National
Industrial Court.

(NEWS) UniJos Undergraduates Steal N2B Electronically From Union Bank Akinlabi A

Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested two young men identified as Isaiah Friday and Azzaior Samuel for allegedly defrauding a bank the sum of N2.05b. The suspects who claimed to be undergraduates of the University of Jos and two bureau de change operators, Salihu Mahmoud and Dan Ibrahim, connived to commit the criminal act.

The suspects were also accused of being members of a syndicate that specialised in breaking into the computer data base of financial institutions to carry out dry posting of funds…

The Head, Media and Publicity, EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, said the suspects were arrested in Lagos and Jos.

Their arrest comes on the heels of a petition which the commission received from Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, Marina, Lagos, in January 2013, alleging that a criminal attack had been launched on its data base known as 'Flexcube', by yet-to-be-identified criminals who falsified the bank records and accounts and created unjustified huge opening balances in several accounts across the bank's branches. They subsequently transferred funds from those accounts to several accounts in other banks.
The petition, which was signed by one A.F Olufade, Head of Fraud Investigation at the bank, said cash withdrawals and electronic transfers totalling N2.05bn was involved in the scam.
It was learnt that EFCC initial investigation showed that Friday, who was carrying out computer system maintenance services for one of the Union Bank branches in Jos, Plateau State, on a part-time basis, paved the way for the fraudsters to penetrate the bank's database. Uwujaren said, Friday was traced and arrested. His arrest led to the arrest of Azaaior Samuel.

Investigations further revealed that Samuel introduced Friday to Mahmoud, who is the mastermind of the fraud with others now at large.

Mahmoud and other collaborators told Friday that they needed access to the bank's database in order to carry out some postings. They promised to give Friday N.5m if the deal succeeded. Friday agreed. On the day the crime was committed, he told people at the bank that Samuel was his colleague who had accompanied him to work.

It was learnt that after the gang had succeeded in gaining access to the bank's premises, it carried out the postings to six different company accounts domiciled in Union Bank's Marina branch in Lagos.

The accounts are Gona Bureau De Change Limited, Jaxmine Bureau De Change Limited, Dan Kawu Bureau De Change Limited, Godswill Great Communications, ZHG Services Limited and A and B Console Limited. The postings were carried out and the syndicate thereafter went to the bank to withdraw all the funds. Friday was paid as promised and other syndicate members now at large shared the remaining balance.

The EFCC spokesman added that the commission had been able to recover $2,129,900 and another N134,542, from the fraudsters.

Other items recovered are furniture worth N10m from Salihu Liman's one bedroom apartment in Yaba, Lagos; four vehicles, landed properties in Kano and Kaduna and a four-bedroom duplex worth N45m in Lagos. Investigation into the scam continues…

N72m Cocaine Seized At Lagos Airport

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has seized 364 wraps of high- grade Brazilian cocaine, weighing 6.490kg and valued at N72m.

The NDLEA Head of Public Affairs, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, said on Monday that the seizure was made at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

He added that a 32-year-old suspect, Francis Bawaba, was arrested in connection with the discovery which was made during the inward screening of passengers on an Etihad flight.

The wraps of cocaine were said to have been prepared for ingestion and hidden inside Bawaba's hand luggage.

NDLEA Lagos Airport Commander, Mr. Hamza Umar, also confirmed the arrest.

He said, "Our investigation has revealed that the suspect took off from Malpensa, Milan. Bawaba picked up the drug while on transit at Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

"He has given us very useful information that we are already working on."

Lamenting the hardship his arrest would portend for his pregnant wife and children, Bawaba said, "This is my first time of smuggling drugs. I was lured with an offer of N3.3m.

"I formerly worked in construction sites in Madrid where I was based; that was how I earned a living.

"Since the global economic meltdown, it has been difficult securing a job. I collected the drug while at Abu Dhabi on my way from Milan. It never occurred to me that I could be caught in Nigeria."

Bawaba said he had planned to invest N3.3m which had been promised him as payment, in business.

The father of two added, "I have been unable to eat since my arrest because I don't know how my pregnant wife and kids will cope without my financial support."

The Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Mr. Ahmadu Giade, said the agency would continue to seek the maximum penalty for drug-trafficking offences.

He said, "The essence of punishment is to correct the offender and deter people from indulging in a crime.

"Drug trafficking demands stiffer punishment to serve as a deterrent because of the high profit it generates."
